Frank R. Suess pt. III - There's No Such Thing as a Free Lunch!
In the third part of this Fireside Conversation, Natalie Vein and Frank R. Suess discuss the possible impact of financial repression measures, how artificial intelligence is changing the way we invest, and why the trade-offs of all political stances need to be part of a differentiated discourse.

While Frank shares a hopeful outlook into the future - especially in Switzerland - he does emphasize the importance of observing the changes happening and of being aware of the geopolitical and economic risks we might be facing. One thing, he says, is obvious: His generation hit the jackpot growing up in Switzerland or the U.S.A. The next one will be facing more challenges.
Some of the many aspects that will fundamentally impact the next generation's lives are artificial intelligence, other upcoming technologies, and our energy policies moving forward. Like with most new developments and innovations, all of those come with both benefits and risks.
Carefully weighing up these benefits and risks, or the pros and cons of a general position, is something that has become rare in our political discourse. We've become quite unilateral and very quick to overturn what has been built for decades without considering what we might lose along with it. Frank illustrates this in the Trade-Off Model he has drafted for the latest BFI Special Report, Deeper Into the New Era. He explains how we can use this model to be more aware of the 'Trade-Offs' that come with every political position - There truly is no such thing as a free lunch!
